Preparing your quilt for longarm quilting:

Before you send or bring in your quilt to be quilted please read and follow the below:

Backing and batting must be 8 inches larger than your quilt top.  I need at least 4 inches on all sides to load your quilt on my table.

You need to remove the salvages from the backing before you seam it and should use a 1/2 inch seam pressed open.  Square the ends after you've sewn the seams then press.

I do not prewash my batting but if you wish to have your batting prewashed please do so before you send it to me.

Your top should be pressed and all long threads trimmed from the back.  Dark threads will show through on lighter fabrics if the are left on the back.  While you are doing this check for any missed seams.

Make sure your borders are correctly sized.  A waving border will forever wave once it is quilted.  I have a beautiful quilt that I did not take the time to measure and pin the borders and I shall forrever regret that hour or so of work that I saved every time I put that quilt on my bed. A border that has been sewn on without being correctly sized may result in tucks in the quilting.

Take some time to look at the quilt patterns and threads available.  I have links on my contact page to the vendors I use for my patterns and thread supplies.  If you see one that appeals to you make note of it on your service request sheet.  If it is a pattern or thread I don't already have I shall order it for you.

Also include 1 1/4 yd of binding fabric if you are requesting that I do the binding.  I normally do double fold bias binding cut 2 1/2 inches please advise if you'd like different.

Once you've prepared your top ..backing and batting neatly fold and place in a plastic bag.  Non scented trash bag workgs good.  If you are dropping your quilt off please call for an appointment. 813 966 1496. If you are mailing use a clean corregated box addressed to:
